Being Vegan isn’t as complicated as people may think. There are substitutions for meat and dairy products. Instead of getting our protein from meat, we eat beans, nuts and tofu. There are other foods to get protein from but those are the main ones that I consume. If you really do your research, you’ll see that calcium and protein come from more than just meat, eggs and milk. I won’t go into detail about all of this because I don’t want this to be too long. I just want you to get the general idea. Plus the information is out there, you just have to find it. Instead of cow’s milk, I use soy, rice or almond milk. I use Vegan butter instead of regular butter and believe it or not there is Vegan bread. Vegan “meats” are made from tofu. Looking at it, you wouldn't know it wasn’t meat. I personally do not eat them as I don’t really care for them.
Plenty of people have dairy allergies so you might be surprised and how many restaurants have items on their menu that are not made with dairy. It’s very feasible for a Vegan to go out to eat with friends and family. A lot of people know that one of my favorite places to eat is Chipotle. As far as fast food goes, this place is the healthiest I’ve seen along with subway. Of course depending on what you put on your food it could easily become unhealthy and high in calories. Papa Johns is also a place that is pretty vegan friendly. Their hand tossed doe does not contain milk or eggs. Of course, I order my pizza without cheese, tons of veggies and light on the sauce. I wasn’t sure how this combination was going to work out but it was great! Also, if you are a new vegan or going in that direction, make sure you READ LABELS & check ingredients for the restaurants you want to go to on their websites. You may think some things don’t contain dairy but it actually does. Many Garden Burgers are made with eggs or milk if not both. I have to check websites of any restaurant I’m going to eat at before I go so that I know for sure what I am eating is vegan. Someone at the restaurant can also help you if you are concerned.
Another thing I want to add is that just because its vegan doesn’t mean it’s healthy. No matter what label you want to put on yourself, what you actually consume is the deciding factor in your health. So you can’t eat fried veggies all the time, call yourself vegan and think you are healthy Lol! So make wise choices. I don’t expect the whole world to go vegan, but what I would love to see is more people eating organic foods and farm animals treated with respect and not abused. Anyway, organic food is so much better than processed food and anything grown or raised with pesticides, hormones and antibiotics. Don’t get me started on the antibiotics chickens are pumped full of. You may think it’s a good thing, but it isn’t. That’s a totally different ball game. Just be careful of what you consume if you don’t want to have health issues later in life. Do your research! I can’t stress that enough. Hopefully you learned something and I shed some light on the whole vegan thing. One last thing, I suggest everyone watch the documentaries Food Inc and King Corn. One show to watch is 30 days season 3, the episode is called animal rights. These I know for sure are streaming on Netflix. They are very informative in regards to the issues I previously stated about animals and how our food is grown and raised.
If you have any other doumentaries or questions please leave them in the comment section below and I will be more than happy to watch them and to answer your questions ^__^.
